A spa, a hammam and mornings on the lawn

Wellness

Book a treatment

Eleven treatment rooms and a hammam, from seven in the morning.

Before ten

The quiet side of the property

Wellness here spans two places and three hours. The spa is a building of its own on the east side, with the hammam and the courtyard at the middle of it. The lawn above the beach and the reformer studio are the other half, and they are early.

The whole thing takes about three and a half hours and none of it is strenuous. Most people do two parts of it and go back to the pool.

How a morning here runs

The spa and its menu
Four guests standing on mats with their hands raised above their heads, on a stone terrace above the water, the sun low on the horizon

6:30

Sunrise yoga, above the beach

Sixty minutes on the terrace above the beach, and the studio if it rains. Sixteen mats and they are not all taken.

A stone bowl, oils and folded towels on a travertine shelf, an olive branch above them

8:00

The hammam

Forty-five minutes of heat, then cold, then somebody scrubbing the result off you. It is included with every treatment and it is $70 on its own.

A white sofa and a timber stool on pale stone, nobody on it

9:30

The courtyard

Half an hour doing nothing, which is the part people skip and the part that makes the rest of it work. No phones, and the staff will say so.

Timber reformers in a rank on a wood floor, a shelved wall of rolled towels and weights at one side, palms and the sea through the glazing

10:00

Pilates, if you want it

Six reformers, so six people, three times a day. It is the one part of the morning that fills up.

Sunrise yoga and Pilates are booked on their own pages, because they are scheduled classes rather than treatments. Sunrise Yoga and Pilates times.

The treatment rooms

  • 60, 90 or 120 minutes

Every treatment runs at one of the three.

  • Eleven rooms

Two of them doubles, around the courtyard.

  • Hammam and plunge

Open to anybody with a treatment booked that day.

A building of its own on the east side, built around a courtyard with a cold plunge in the middle of it. Eleven treatment rooms, two of them doubles, and the hammam underneath.

Treatments run from seven in the morning until eight at night. Come ninety minutes before yours: the hammam and the courtyard are included and they are the reason the treatment works.

The spa, its menu and its prices

Plainly

The fitness room

There is a fitness room, and it has eight machines and a rack of free weights in it, and that is the whole of it. If a full gym is part of how you travel, this is not the property for it, and it is better to know that now than at seven in the morning.

What this place has instead is nine miles of coast road out of the east gate, a headland path, and water that is warm enough to swim in from May.

The rest of the morning

Before breakfast

The headland path

Out of the east gate, along the cliff, and back through the town. About ninety minutes and nothing to book.

Walks and hikes

Emerald Pool

Open from seven, and it is empty until about ten. The warmest water on the property.
